For most of my life I lived on the West Coast of the USA. During those years I never took for granted the stunning beauty of the Pacific Ocean and the ever amazing coastline. Watching the waves break on to the rocky outcroppings of the California and Oregon shores has always captivating.
Once in a long while I return to the “Left Coast” from my new home in Michigan and enjoy the thrill of what never ceases to amaze me. This is a ministry trip. So, a great deal of my time is spent studying and preparing to deliver a number of messages.
I am at the Canon Beach Christian Conference Center in Oregon. Christians from all over the country come here with their families for a vacation. Yet, they come for spiritual pursuits as well.
A great deal of that responsibiity falls on my shoulders. I am not at liberty to have fun initially. Study first and then catch moments for reliving the glory of God’s creation uniquely situated on this coastal wonder zone.
I was up before dawn. My studying began in the darkness of the early hours. Then after a slight hue began to chase away the night it was time for a break.
Flinging open my window to test the temperatures, it was clear that I needed a jacket. Cool air off of the deep blue Pacific was drenching the beaches. So, I complied with God’s weather signals.
My march down the beach was my first in several years. But, it was all too familiar and new all at the same time. I drank it all in.
Miles of beaches stretched out to the South. More ocean than the eye could fathom filled everything to the West. And the mountains around me laid a picturesque backdrop.
Light was every where as the world woke up to a new day. Seagulls raced through the air and caught updrafts for early morning gliding. The endless waves pounded the sandy shores.
But, what I was waiting for was on its way. It was the relentless inevitable sunrise of a new day. I was not to be disappointed.
Stunning sunrays shot up from the eastern horizon. They captured the tree line with force. Low clouds gave highlights to the streaks of light. It was phenominal and well worth the stroll. Have you gotten up early just to see a sunrise lately?

The ocean and the sunrise are both beautiful. i love to go out on my porch in the mornings and read my bible. it is so peaceful and calming.
A few months ago our friend came to visit . He ran yelling everyone go outside i want to show you something. well, we all thought it was going to be some very silly joke, but ended up he just wanted to show us all the sunrise.
