Chinese-FeastFor over thirty years I have been living in states that are a long way away from relatives.  The richness of living in amazing locations has been a great adventure.  But, there is a down side to living away.

During the holidays I miss out. That means forfeiting some amazing feasts.  My Asian culture makes those food extravaganzas a happening moment.

In my heritage any party is a legitimate excuse to enjoy an amazing meal.  Food and family are the perfect combination.  Since everyone has their favorites there is very little fare that is not ordered and set on the table for our hungry consumption.

First, the soup is served.  It’s fragrance whets the, appetite for what is on its way.  Make sure that you turn down any offers for seconds.  That just means that you’re new to our family.  They want to fill you up and have more of what is to come for themselves!

Out comes the special Chinese crispy chicken.  How can the chefs orchestrate such great flavor and keep even the white meat so moist?  It is enough to make you smile even while eating.

Fish comes served with oils, sauces, garnish and steamed to perfection.  Black bass is the choice today.  Pieces easily flake off of the bone and melt in your mouth.

Specialty pork chops follow.  They are drenched in an amazing Asian BBQ sauce and cooked with a crispy surface with tender moist meat inside.  Scrumptous!

Chinese vegitables with brown sauce and black mushrooms are then served.  Lobster Chinese style is added to the table.  Prawns with cashews are a favorite.

Fried sticky rice filled with Chinese sausage is hardly touched since everyone is getting full.  Steamed chicken follows.  That is topped off with chow mein that is always a hit with the kids.

Mixed seafood in a hashbrown potatoe basket is not only a stunning presentation but it is delicious as well.  Scallops, shrimp, squid and green snow peas are blended into a dish that has very little leftovers.

My relatives are carrying on with energetic conversations.  I am marvelling at the food.  Over the years I have missed out on so many of these banquets.

Family is so nice.  I love being releated to them.  Suddenly, I sense that the aromas of this Asian fare may be calling me home.  I miss my Asian food . . . uh, er… I mean my family.
